Jeremy Colangelo Goes Two-for-Two at New Smyrna Speedway
Deland, Florida, Driver Wins Second-Straight Bright House Challenge Event
Peaking at the end of season shows strength in a race team and its driver.  Jeremy Colangelo is hitting his stride at just the right time.  After several near misses earlier in the season, the Deland, Florida, native has won two races in his last three starts.  Just like his first victory, Colangelo took home win number two in the Bright House Challenge Series at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).
“It’s a pretty good feeling to be back in victory lane,” said Colangelo.  “Especially two times in a row in the Bright House Series.  It’s making our points chase there a little bit easier.  We’re gaining in on the points lead.”

After starting third, Colangelo outlasted the series’ points leader after a mishap on the track in front of him to score the win.  Colangelo, who runs The Sunbelt
Super Late Model Tour along with the Bright House Challenge Series, has been strong all season long.  Prior to his second win, he had scored 12 top-five finishes in 19 starts.  Now it looks as if the momentum of winning two of the last three races can propel him even further.

“It kind of reassures me,” said Colangelo.  “I’m pretty hard on myself, and I thought maybe the first one was just a fluke and we’ll see how these other ones go.  To be back in victory lane, you know it’s not a fluke, and you know that’s where we’re supposed to be.  We put in a lot of work and a lot of effort on the whole team with the Late Models and the Super Late Models.”

Looking ahead, Colangelo will take his momentum into his next race at Columbia Motorsports Park on September 27th.  Colangelo will be looking to expand his series’ points lead in a quest for a championship in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series.

“I’ve been in championship hunts before in other forms of racing and it only seems like something early on kind of set us back, and I’ve never been this close come the end of the year,” said Colangelo.  “I would have never fathomed that we had the possibility of locking up three or four titles.  If we can do that, great; if not, then we know we’re a championship caliber team by the way we’re running.”

Colangelo leads in the points in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series, The Sunbelt Triple Crown Series, and is second in the Bright House Championship Series and the FASCAR Late Model Series.  With his recent trips to victory lane, it’s clear that at some point he will be taking home a championship in 2008.
