Colangelo Starts Off Brighthouse Challenge with Impressive Run
Hard-Fought Battle Results in Second-Place Finish
Experience is life’s best teacher.  That is probably what Jeremy Colangelo was thinking after battling David Rogers for first place this past weekend at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) in the Brighthouse Challenge Series Super Late Model event.  Colangelo and Rogers pulled away from the field and engaged in a battle of their own for most of the race.  Colangelo gave it all he had, but he just couldn’t sneak by the veteran Rogers.
“It was definitely a hard fought race and I was happy at the end of the day with second,” said Colangelo.  “We just had such a good car and I think there for a while we were better than Rogers.  It’s just that we couldn’t get anything to work on that bottom groove.  We were running in the middle of the track so we didn’t really have any room to go low or high without moving somebody out of the way.”

Colangelo and Rogers were running side by side during the latter part of the race.  There was a little bit of contact made but it was nothing serious, just hard racing.

“A couple of times I gave David a shot, just to nudge him. I definitely didn’t want to wreck him,” said Colangelo.  “He is by far one of the cleanest racers you will ever race against, so I wanted to treat him with that same respect.  We got under him and got our nose out ahead of him a couple times, but when we went into the corner, that outside groove just worked better.  It made me feel good to be able to run as competitively as we did against him, considering all of the success that he has had there lately.  It also felt really good to pull away from everybody else like he and I did.”

Colangelo will be back in action on April 10th at Five Flags Speedway (FL) for the Blizzard Series Super Late Model event.
