Jeremy Colangelo Pumps Out Another Great Finish at New Smyrna
Colangelo Grabs Another Top-Three Finish at New Smyrna
Jeremy Colangelo and his Colangelo Motorsports Super Late Model team returned to racing with the Bright House Challenge Series this weekend, where they have consistently posted a series of top-three finishes throughout the 2009 season. Colangelo traveled with the series to New Smyrna Speedway (FL), where he captured another great finish by bringing home the third-place trophy.
“With the kind of year we’ve had this year I’ll take a third place finish,” said Colangelo. “It seems like some places we go we can’t get out of our own way because we have horrible luck but sometimes it feels like it turns around.”
“We’re usually pretty confident when we go to New Smyrna that we can go there with a car capable of winning and we showed we had a really good car in practice,” explained Colangelo. “Then in qualifying we qualified on the pole and with the inversion we started third. There was a wreck on the first lap in the first turn.

The leaders got a little too aggressive, got together and [David] Rogers ended up with the unfortunate end of the deal and ended up in the wall. When the race finally started again on the second attempt it kind of panned out and I fell back to fourth because the outside groove there is definitely the more preferred line lately. So we fell back to fourth and we were able to get right back up to third and battle for second most of the night. Then late in the race I fought a little bit of an issue getting into the corner, we were just too free getting in for most of the race and ended up falling back a little bit but still came home a solid third.”
Colangelo will be back in action with the Bright House Challenge Series at Orlando Speedworld (FL) for this weekend's 50-lap event.
