Jeremy Colangelo Avoids the Rain to Finish Third
Panhandle Washout Give Colangelo Chance to Race at Home
Jeremy Colangelo and his Mark Martin Performance race team were looking forward to the second round of the Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway (FL) and the Miller Lite Series at Mobile International Speedway (AL) this past weekend, but rain spoiled their plans, postponing both events one week.  That didn't mean Colangelo was ready to hang up the helmet for the weekend though as he returned home to run the local Bright House Challenge race at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), where he logged a third-place finish.
"We got back to the shop and we really didn’t make the call to race on Saturday until around noon time,” said Colangelo.  "We really needed to race because I had been out of the car for an extended amount of time.

"Practice went well, and we won the pole prior to the race. Things were looking really good for the feature.  We started in the low groove and the top side is the place to be at New Smyrna. Once we went green we slipped back fell in line and were forced to ride for fifty laps for a third-place finish."

Colangelo was more then happy to race considering how much rain was dumped on the state of Florida before the weekend.  He hopes the weather will be dry this coming weekend as they will return to the panhandle for the doubleheader action.

"The plan is to go back," said Colangelo.  "We are keeping a good eye on the weather, hoping that things will be better then last time.  The practice up there on Thursday night last week really helped us get ready for the next race."

Action starts on Friday, May 29th at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, and it continues on Saturday, May 30th at Mobile International Speedway (AL).
