Colangelo Starts 2009 with a Top-10 Finish at the Red Eye 125
Mark Martin Development Driver Finishes Sixth in Season Opener
Climbing in and out of a racecar is second nature to racecar drivers.  Guys like Jeremy Colangelo can go almost a full month without being in the car, then jump in and rattle off a top-10 finish like it was nothing.

At the season opening Red Eye 125 at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), Colangelo battled with Sunbelt Series Champion Tim Russell, Governors Cup Winner Wayne Anderson and former Camping World Truck Series Champion Mike Skinner.  At the end of the night, Colangelo posted a sixth-place finish.
“Our results didn’t show what we’re looking for, but it was a blast to be back in the driver's seat again,” said Colangelo.  “We got up to third and the car felt good until it just started to fade around lap 40.  We did all we could and I managed to keep us in the top 10 for a decent finish.  It was a lot of fun racing with Skinner and the usual suspects like Russell and Anderson.”

Upon returning to the shop, the team found that part of rear-end had broken during the race and the carburetor was also experiencing issues.  Colangelo was disappointed in the results, but his off-season conditioning has him looking for bigger and better things in 2009.

“It didn’t feel like we had been out of the car that long,” said Colangelo.  “I worked out and was going to the gym everyday, so I was really excited to get back in the car.  We didn’t get the finish we were looking for, but we know we can be really good during Speedfest and the World Series.”

Colangelo will be back in action on January 24th and 25th as he will head to Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia, for Speedfest.  Colangelo will also be racing at the 43rd Annual World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in February.
